This Mardi Gras Party has turned deadly…
The year is 1899 in New Orleans, and Mardi Gras celebrations are underway. Parade floats fill the streets and each evening, various Krewes throw lavish masked balls. You’re invited to the Calypso Ball, the inaugural masquerade ball hosted by the first-ever all-female krewe.
The guest list is varied, as Calypso has invited one of the oldest all-male krewes, Sinis, to attend their exclusive masked soiree. The identities of the members of both Calypso and Sinis are a mystery, and are guarded heavily by each krewe. Masks are essential to concealing each person’s identity as they all convene for an evening of anonymous exuberance and decadence.
But when a man in a gold mask takes a fatal tumble down the stairs, it’s quickly realized that a devious plot is afoot. The guests’ heavily-guarded identities must be revealed to find out who killed the man in the gold mask, and why!
This mystery contains murder and is rated 3/5 on the Angel Rating Scale. While there is a murder, there is no mention or reference to sex or drugs, however there are references to voodoo. Other mentions of situations listed here that could offend – conservative audiences and religious groups should ALWAYS stick with non-murder, 5-Angel rated mysteries to avoid potentially being offended by content in a pretend murder scenario.

Great time! This was our second murder mystery party and it generates huge fanfare each time. The mysteries are set up to be challenging but not overly challenging and its great that everyone can participate without knowing who the killer is beforehand! This company is great to work with and is always accommodating to questions.
The best party – EVER! Shot in the Dark Mysteries made the planning so easy that we could focus on making our basement look like an 80s prom. Our theme was “Chiller Thriller” and we had a blast decorating. Every person that came said they had so much fun and wanted to host their own parties. I love Shot in the Dark mysteries! They made so many of our parties (birthdays, new years, just because!) extra special by getting our friends engaged in solving the crimes! They’re such a great value, and even our friends that aren’t extroverts can get into being a character and sleuthing. I also love that I am able to host and participate in the murder mystery!
